Vince Gilligan Finally Reveals Huell’s Fate In ‘Breaking Bad’

There was a lot to deal with in the aftermath of the ‘Breaking Bad‘ series finale. What happened to Hank’s minerals, Marie, if Walt Jr/Flynn’s propensity for breakfast classics still stood strong, Jesse’s entire storyline, et cetera.

But nothing could ever grind ‘Breaking Bad’ fans’ gears quite as much as the fate of young, valiant, impressionable Huell – stuck in veritable purgatory on Hank’s orders, listening to excruciating elevator music forevermore.

Hell hath no fury like Huell’s meaningless navigation of life.

Today, the fate and good health of Huell has once and for all been revealed by ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan, in an admittedly anti-climactic tying of loose ends. Gilligan says in the recently-released ‘Breaking Bad’ book:

Is Huell still waiting for someone to come back for him?

Yes, sadly he’s waiting morosely on that sofa, looking like a lost puppy… [Laughs] No. It’s likely that Agent Van Oster keeps in touch with DEA headquarters. So when he learns Gomez and Hank have gone missing, he would in short order tell his superiors what they were up to. Within a matter of hours, really not that many in story time, Huell will be taken back to HQ. They’ll question him, find out what he knows—which isn’t much—and he’ll be let out on the street. Right now, he’s doing what Huell does best, whatever that is. He’s out and about as a free man.
