Vile Kyle Issues Public Apology To News Ltd Journalist

Kyle Sandilands, king of furore and infamously unwilling to back down on anything, has issued a rare decree in the form of a public apology to News.com.au journalist, Alison Stephenson.

Sandilands landed himself in a ton of trouble when he publicly lambasted Stephenson a few weeks ago when she criticised his new television show, threatening to hunt her down, among other niceties.Late yesterday, he issued an open letter to the media in which he attempted to apologise for recent transgressions:

I have been in radio for more than ten years, my show is based on controversy, I give as good as I get and I have never been shy in expressing my opinion.

In the heat of the moment I reacted badly to criticism of my television program. I took my remarks too far and for that – and the offence caused to Alison Stephenson and those exposed to my comments – I sincerely apologise.

Our radio show can be polarising. I regret the impact this has had on our clients and our hard-working staff, who have had to weather a storm of criticism in the media and on social networks. I regret that so many had to bear the brunt of my actions.

I am looking forward to the Kyle and Jackie O Show returning in 2012 with a fresh and positive outlook on breakfast radio.

We’re all for taking your time, but that took Sandilands a fortnight. Perhaps it has something to do with all those sponsors pulling their support for Southern Cross Austereo recently, with many, such as Coles and Ford, refusing to advertise with the station so long as Kyle was in the hot seat.

So what’s your view? Do you accept Kyle’s apology or does he deserve an extended (or perpetual) sit in the sin bin? Let us know in the comments.
