Ultimate Simpsons Fanboy Recreates 3 Playable In-Show Video Games

There’s Simpsons fans—some purists, loyalists, devotees and groupies most definitely fill the Pedestrian offices—and then there’s SIMPSONS fans, the people whose line-by-line knowledge of the cult TV show surely surpasses Matt Groening‘s own, and whose passion passed from “novelty” to “straight up frightening” so very long ago.

As much as we’ll live and die for the show, and as often as we’ll dress up as Idaho for Halloween, being a type B fan in this scenario isn’t always desirable. But goddamn. Biting directly into the fruits of such fans’ obsessive labour? Stuff’s sweeter than an all-syrup, super squishee.
A video game developer known as GrumpyFunction has done what no Simpsons fan had previously thought to do: recreating three of the show’s obscure, fleeting in-house video games to painstaking accuracy.
Kevin Costner’s Waterworld‘ (from Season 8’sThe Springfield Files“), ‘Escape From Grandma’s House‘ (from far simpler times in Season 2‘s “Bart Gets An F”) and ‘Larry The Looter’ (Season 3’s “Radio Bart”)  have all witnessed a renaissance fit for the internet today, as all three games have been made available for free download by the developer.
According to Rolling Stone, the games took GrumpyFunction over two years to complete, and for that kind of effort we well and truly salute him.
Happy freakin’ Saturday.
