Uhh, It Looks Like Daenerys Isn’t Alone At Dragonstone During 1st ‘GoT’ Ep

[insert image of Meryl Streep yelling] SPOOOOOOILERS. But like, only mild ones.

The best part about ‘Game of Thrones‘ being back on the air – apart from literally everything – is über fans dissecting every shot, line, and napkin George R.R. Martin has wiped the crumbs of his chin with in the last two decades.

This is in no way a sledge. I love it.

Well, here we go again. Another eagle-eyed Redditor has spotted something the rest of us PLEBS missed, and speculating on what it might mean for future ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes.

It pertains to Daenerys‘ new (old?) home at Dragonstone, and whether or not she’s actually alone.

It was always weird that Daenerys and co happened upon a totally empty castle, where the front doors opened without a hitch and the only signs of a hastily fled occupancy was a few overturned chairs. Westeros has just gone through a war. You’re telling me there’s no displaced people making use of the abandoned castle? Sure, the architect had a flair for the dramatic, but it’s got ocean views and a fully functional ceiling.

Well, as Redditor jlg9917 pointed out, Daenerys might not be alone. Melisandre is waiting.

They point to the season trailer for red hot clues. “Starting at :57 in they show Melisandre and then cut to what I believe are the steps in Westeros we saw Dany walk,” their post reads. “To the left of this shot, at :59, you can see what clearly looks like Melisandre standing there. Is she there before they got there? Anyone else catch this?”

They’re not wrong.

It certainly LOOKS like it could be Melisandre watching Daenerys and her ragtag party walking up to Dragonstone. Then again, it might not. Another Redditor, alpengeist19, reckons it also might be Melisandre watching Jon Snow and his party arrive to negotiate for dragonglass. The people are tiny… almost like HBO made it hard to identify them on purpose.

Either way, it would make sense that Melisandre is holed up in Dragonstone. Jon banished Melisandre at the end of last season, and not only is Melisandre attracted to power like a psychotic moth to a flame, but Dragonstone was the last place she was living at before Stannis all dragged them northward. She still reckons Jon is the Prince Who Was Promised, but uh, he’s not down with burning innocent children at the stake.
