During the run of classic murder mystery series Pretty Little Liars, which basically centred around a terrible person named “A” seeking long, drawn-out revenge over a group of high school (and later, college) girls, there were a lot of couples to ship. But for me, it was always about #Haleb, the extremely photogenic combination of Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn).
PS. Let’s never talk about that time Caleb dated Spencer (Troian Bellisario) because what the fuck WAS that.
Anyway, Caleb and Hanna were the unlikely romance that captured all of our hearts, and off-screen, Ash and Tyler seemed pretty bloody chummy as well, especially if you followed them both on Instagram at the time.
I mean, we all have a work wife / husband, that’s only normal to get through your day. But these two definitely liked to hint to us that they were more than just mates.
There was this infamous 2015 post, which has now been removed. It had the caption “First trimester” and sent us all into a bloody frenzy.
While their relationship was never confirmed or denied by the pair, in a new interview with Playboy.com, Tyler finally sheds a bit of light on exactly what was going on.
We never officially dated. In navigating our relationship – as co-workers but also as friends – sometimes the lines blurred a little. We had periods when we felt more for each other, but ultimately we’re good buds. For the most part, those rumours made us laugh. But then sometimes we’d be like, ‘Did someone see us hugging the other night?’ She was a huge part of a huge change in my life, so I’ll always hold her dear.
So there you go – there were some feelings there, but the two never “dated”.
Since PLL, Tyler has come out as bisexual and told Playboy that he’s dating “an amazing man”. As for Ash, she’s dating model Cara Delevingne, so for any and all of our Haleb shipping needs, we’ll just have to rely on PLL gifs forever.
