Trevor Noah’s Emergency Surgery Story Makes Us Glad We Live In Australia

Trevor Noah took another step towards filling Jon Stewart’s massive boots on The Daily Show by managing to riff on the sorry state of the American healthcare system, after the host himself had “a touch of emergency appendectomy surgery.”

Noah called it a “crazy experience”, which even postponed the show’s taping earlier this week.
“Although I’m not sure emergency room is the right term – because they make you wait…  the lady’s like, “can you fill out the forms?” and I’m like, well no, I’m uh, dying.”

“”How are you paying for this?” Well, with my life, clearly.”

Despite a burst appendix being a legitimately big deal, the new host still took the chance to Tweet a dig at fellow injury-prone late-night host/human voodoo-doll Jimmy Fallon.

The South African found his feet pretty quickly after the surgery thanks to his surgeons, and only took a day off before jumping behind the desk. Still, the whole ordeal makes you pretty bloody thankful to live in a country where they don’t make you fill out insurance forms while you’re in the process of kicking the bucket.
