Travolta Pisses Off Qantas Staff In New Training Video

John Travolta is the new spokesperson for Qantas, but the cabin crew are not impressed.

Travolta, who has been flying planes about as long as he’s been acting, introduces the new safety video for Qantas, referring to staff as ‘the team’ rather than cabin crew or flight attendants. That’s just one of the things that irk the crew, who took to anonymous message boards to denounce the airline’s use of a celebrity rather than an ‘actual pilot’ to represent them.

“We feel it’s demeaning to be called “the team”, one allegedly said. “It makes us feel like we work at McDonald’s.” The crew have also maintained that someone like Captain Richard de Crespigny, who recently saved over 400 passengers’ lives when an engine exploded into a flames on a Qantas flight leaving Singapore, would be more suitable a choice to front the safety vid.

The video also adopts a more relaxed address than usually seen on safety videos, such as ‘We know you’re more than capable of operating a seatbelt, but here’s a few pointers on how this one works.” What’s next? Calling the cabin crew ‘dudes’?
Despite the grumblings, Travolta is indeed a certified pilot. And in case that isn’t enough, he also did this:
