Trailer: William Shatner’s Star Trek Doco

For anyone who’s ever believed in the power of ‘The Force’, William Shatner has finally created the behind-the-scenes documentary you’ve been waiting for.

Kidding. Why the heck would William Shatner be making any kind of movie that relates to The Force? The Shat is an icon of Star Trek while The Force is from Star Wars. What do I look stupid to you? That was just a test. A test, I tells ya. Now let’s all relax, stop talking like Rodney Dangerfield, and get back to the movie.

Shatner has produced and directed a to-be-released documentary about Star Trek called The Captains, in which he travels the world to connect with each of the actors who have played Captains over the long life of the Star Trek franchise: Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula and Chris Pine, as well as what is probably the biggest sell of the premise: Shatner himself.

He became a cultural icon and sub-cultural deity after he played the role of Captain James T. Kirk on the original Star Trek television series from 1966 to 1969.

The Captains will premiere on US cable network EPIX HD on 21 July. Hopefully it won’t be long before it hits our screens too because it looks most amusing.
