Trailer: Kieran Darcy Smith’s Sundance Entry “Wish You Were Here”

When Pedestrian recently chatted with Australian filmmaker and Blue Tongue Films co-founder, Kieran Darcy Smith, he told us about the process of creating his latest feature film Wish You Were Here. The movie, which stars the Man Of The Year Joel Edgerton, Teresa Palmer, Smith’s wife Felicity Price and Antony Starr, has been selected to premiere on the opening night of the Sundance Film Festival early next year – which means it must be pretty damn good.

The first trailer for Wish You Were Here has emerged online today, but don’t expect it to reveal too much about the film. Smith told Pedestrian, “There’s a mystery-thriller component to the film which is very important and key to its success for audiences, I think. They’re tricky synopses and trailers and whatnot because you don’t want to let the cat out of the bag. It’s hard to write that stuff…”

What we do know about the movie is this: Four friends lose themselves in the fun of a carefree South East Asian holiday. Only three return home. Who amongst them knows what happened on that fateful night when they were dancing under a full moon in Cambodia?

Sounds ominous and looks fascinating…

Wish You Were Here will have its world premiere on opening night at the Sundance Film Festival on 19 January 2012.
