Smell that? That’s the smug chalky scent of inevitability, because the chances of Daniel Day Lewis NOT receiving an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln are zero. The first trailer for the movie is here, and Day Lewis is transformed into an uncanny embodiment of the 16th President of the United States, with help from a terrific makeup (and mutton chop) job.
The film is inspired by Abraham Lincoln’s final months in office where he pursues a course of action designed to end the American civil war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tommy Lee Jones among the supporting cast you know this is going to be epic Spielberg historical drama at its best. No vampires though.
