Trailer: Alan Ball’s ‘True Blood’ Rebound HBO Show That’s Also About Death, ‘Banshee’

The first trailer for ex-True Blood show runner and executive producer Alan Ball’s rebound project that’s also about death screening on an HBO affiliate network, Banshee, has gone online.

Touted as an original series with Ball’s illustrious pedigree (TB, Six Feet Under, American Beauty) as its biggest drawcard, Banshee looks like it maybe has the following premise, although it’s not entirely clear: ex-con master thief (played by New Zealand native and the missing guy from Wish You Were HereAntony Starr) assumes the identity of another man and with it the role of Sheriff in backwater town bordering on an Amish community (Banshee) where his past and present lives intersect. Murderous lust, corruption, crime, explosions, sex, screaming, suffering and a phrase that has been everywhere this weekend (‘blood on your hands’) all follow suit.
The best part about all of this is there’s no bloody Vampire Authority, Billith or Sookeh anywhere to be found.
Banshee screens on HBO’s Cinemax channel on January 11th, and soon after on wherever you’re choosing to watch TV these days.
