Imagine this: you receive an invite to the Screen Actors Guild Awards (um, WOW) and find out you’ve also lucked and scored a seat on the same table as #relationshipgoals couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski (double WOW!). For many, myself included, this would be a dream come true.
And, it turns out this fantastical turn of events actually happened to another human: Timothée Chalamet. But rather than gawking at the adorable couple, or even watching the A-list awards show going on right in front of him, Timothée was caught on camera casually reading underneath the table.
Now, as much as I love Emily and John, there’s something about this utterly antisocial, DGAF behaviour that speaks to a large portion of the internet on a deeply spiritual level.
In fact, if you were ever been dragged out of your room for a boring as heck family dinner when you were a kid, or had to experience an exceptionally bland house party, you can absolutely relate to this.
Overnight the picture has gone viral, becoming the best meme to emerge out of the awards ceremony, for the simple reason that it’s one big introverted #mood.
timothée chalamet reading at the sag awards is me in every social situation. pic.twitter.com/PbbN38QDGo

I very much relate to Timothee Chalamet reading something rather than socialising at a social event pic.twitter.com/Ibj6aZ4KBI

sorry, but @RealChalamet in the background reading something was the best moment of the #SAGAwards and you can’t make me change my mind pic.twitter.com/VnVcFDkUpG

Seriously though, we can’t help wondering WTF is so important that Timmy can’t stop reading it to talk to John and Emily?
Some hoped it was a Call Me By Your Name sequel script, while others joked that he was cramming in some study:
In a perfect world, Timothée Chalamet would be reading the script for the Call Me By Your Name sequel. https://t.co/WqlIlACzO1

He looks like he’s last minute studying for SAT’s. 😂

After a lot of postulations, someone who worked the SAG Awards decided to put the internet out of its misery by revealing exactly what Timmy was reading: the event programme.
lol I was serving at the awards. It’s booklet of the ceremony they put on all guests chairs.

“lol I was serving at the awards. It’s booklet of the ceremony they put on all guests chairs.” wrote @MichelChaires.
Well, that makes a lot more sense, to be honest. I mean, for starters, I definitely didn’t see him cradling a book under his arm as he waltzed the red carpet. But still, it’s a mood and sometimes the internet just takes something and runs with it, revealing something truly glorious – this is one of those cases.
