Timothée Chalamet Geeked Out About Robin, So We Have A New ‘Batman’ Casting Suggestion

Timothée Chalamet

Turns out beautiful boy Timothée Chalamet has always loved Robin, the DC character most notably known as Batman‘s sidekick. He revealed this morsel of gold at the premiere of his new movie The King, during a conversation about the new Batman movie, starring Robert Pattinson… his co-star. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Variety spoke to Chalamet about Pattinson and his highly publicised role as the new Caped Crusader.

He said the new Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, is going to be “awesome.”

“I just know it’s going to be fresh,” he added, before sharing that he used to call himself Robin as a wee boy.

“I grew up – you can ask my mum, who’s here – people in the elevator would ask me when I was five-years-old, ‘What’s your name?’ and I would say Robin,” he told Variety. “Actually every director steered away from putting Robin [in a movie] … they steered away from it because it’s hard to do dramatically or something, and I … I’m not averse to those universes.”

The seed, it has been planted. The thing is I can actually see Chalamet as Robin in an artsy Batman. Or maybe I’m just painfully bias.

The King premieres on Netflix, November 1. The film follows Hal (Chalamet), the reluctant heir to the English throne. Hal prefers to live among the people, but when his father dies he’s crowned King Henry V. With no choice but to lead, the young king must navigate palace politics, chaos, and the war his father left behind, all while coping with the memories from his past life – including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, John Malstaff (Joel Edgerton).

Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn, Lily-Rose Depp also star.

Chalamet will actually be in Sydney for its Australian premiere come Thursday, 10 October. He, Edgerton and director David Michôd will walk the carpet at The Ritz Cinema, Randwick. You know what to do.
