My Vagina Doesn’t Know How To React To Timothée Chalamet As Edward Scissorhands’ Sad Son

Sometimes, when you have a bad case of the Monday Blues, you just need to watch a 90-second video of Timothée Chalamet as Edward Scissorhands’ son to jump-start your morning. It works, it really works.

Why is Timmy C playing Scissorhands, you ask? For a Super Bowl ad from Cadillac, of course. And since these ads are always big (and wildly expensive, I assume), it only makes sense that Cadillac brought in Timmy C to play Edgar Scissorhands and also had Winona Ryder (!!!) as Kim from the original cult 1990 film by Tim Burton.

Edgar is the son of Kim and Edward Scissorhands, played by Johnny Depp in the original.

The resemblance is uncanny.

In the ad, set in the present day, Edgar goes through life rather awkwardly and alone. His scissor hands are a nuisance most of the time, unless he’s creating food art at the salad bar he works at.

His only escape is a VR driving game, so what does his mum do? She gifts Edgar with a Cadillac Lyriq, which has a self-driving mode so his scissor hands can rest easy.

“And Edgar drove off into the sunset, but don’t worry, he still makes it home in time for dinner, occasionally,” Ryder concludes happily.

Good for you, Edgar, good for you.

As an aside, I’m very tired of reboots but if Tim Burton suddenly felt inspired to reboot his beloved flick with Timmy C in it, I would absolutely watch it. Just saying.

Anywho, you can catch Chalamet in at least two films this year: Dune and Don’t Look Up. The former, co-starring Zendaya and Oscar Isaac, was originally supposed to hit cinemas last year, but was delayed due to the pandemic. It will now premiere in October 2021. The latter will be released on Netflix later this year, and co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

I assume Ryder will reprise her role in the next season of Stranger Things, whenever Netflix decides to release it. Season 3 came out in July 2019 and I don’t remember very much of it. Is Ryder even still in it? I really don’t know.
