Tilda Swinton Is Now A Bookie’s Fav For ‘Doctor Who’ And Why The Hell Not

Betting is the least Doctor Who thing you could do with your time and money, but goddamn if the bookies don’t have an opinion on the next wielder of the Sonic Screwdriver.

According to bookmaking firm Ladbrokes, none other than Tilda Swinton is the frontrunner for the position fellow Scot Peter Capaldi will soon be leaving vacant.

We’re assuming Tumblr already has some strong takes on this one, and there’s apparently already an (under-signed) petition calling for the same.

By Ladbrokes’ estimations, the ethereal actress is ahead of Kris Marshall, who played that one dude in Love, Actually, and Ben Wishaw, perhaps best known for his recent work in the Bond franchise.

As such, Ladbrokes has also noted odds shifting towards the likelihood of the next Doctor being a woman. Olivia Colman and Maxine Peake are also apparently punter favourites.

Richard Ayoade, the man who should have been The Doctor a solid eight years ago, is currently sitting at 10/1 odds.

Gwendoline Christie? 20/1. Same for Idris Elba.
But, after the campaign for Gillian Anderson to become the next Bond picked up a huge amount of support, it might actually be rad to see Swinton take the TARDIS for a spin. Don’t feel the need to bet on it though, yeah?
