A TikTok of someone attempting to leave their house disguised as a bush has gone gangbusters online.

TikToker @maddiedavies.x initially posted the below clip, alongside the caption, “Next door neighbour trying hard not to get caught whilst on lockdown…” The footage has since amassed over 16 million views and 3 million likes.

This ‘neighbour’ turned out to be her boyfriend, and fellow TikToker @repnicktv. So yes, we were all swindled. (Turns out you shouldn’t believe everything you see online. Who would’ve thought?)

Nick, who has over 500k followers on the app, has since posted more content on TikTok using the iconic bush outfit to scare folk on the street.

@repnicktvThey got so scared???? Bushman scare prank.. Wait till the end???? ##foryou ##fyp ##foryoupage ##foryoupagethis ##viral ##tiktok ##safehands ##4u ##foryoup♬ Savage – Megan Thee Stallion

Although the whole ‘capturing candid neighbour footage’ illusion has been shattered, I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless. I mean, look, going stir-crazy in isolation seems to be the norm these days, and I commend anyone who dresses up as an inanimate object while enjoying a few minutes in the sun. With this in mind, here’s footage of some trash going for a brisk walk.

I have no idea who filmed this, or when, but I feel as though, in 2020, we can all relate to the footage on an existential level.
