The Voice contender Carmen Smith was dropped from the show after her appearance in a Guy Sebastian music video was deemed a breach of the “spirit of the show”, so it’s nice to see that Guy has thrown her a bone with an invitation to sing with him on an upcoming episode of Australia’s Got Talent.
Carmen will appear on the show this Wednesday 23 May in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and Thursday night for viewers in Brisbane and Sydney. Piggybacking off the highly publicised Carmen furore and The Voice‘s enormous audience really is a genius move by Australia’s Got Talent producers. The Channel Seven series has struggled for a decent ratings share since its first episode, particularly compared to the massive popularity of The Voice (on Ch 9) which, notwithstanding a small ratings slip during last night’s ep, has drawn over 2 million viewers per episode – crazy numbers for an Australian series.
Anyway Carmen’s getting a second shot and that’s a good thing because the woman can wail.
