The Veronicas have revealed that they didn’t talk for over a year while Jessica (Origliasso) was dating Ruby Rose. According to the legendary Aussie singer, the relationship almost ended up destroying the powerful bond that twin sisters Jessica and Lisa have created with each other.
Jessica spilt the tea about her bond with Lisa being threatened by her relationship with Ruby Rose in a 60 minutes interview. According to her, The Veronicas were very close to disappearing completely, and the pair didn’t perform together for over a year.
Ruby Rose and Jessica dated way back in 2008 before splitting shortly after. They got back together in 2016, and the relationship lasted until 2018.
Naysayers may have speculated that the relationship was tearing The Veronicas apart, but now we have actual confirmation of the fact. Spicy as fuck.
“When you have a twin, you’ve got back up for everything,” said Jessica.
“But sometimes to evolve as an individual, and to find the love for myself I needed to find, I needed to just go through the experience for myself.”
“I don’t know if there are any words for how hard that was. It’s heartbreaking. She’s my best friend, so not being able to reach out and check-in, see how she’s doing, or tell her what’s going on with me [was hard].”
Throughout the interview, the pair also admitted to almost breaking up, with performances and songwriting becoming an activity of the past as they refused to speak with each other.
“We weren’t able to create, we weren’t able to perform. I mean, we couldn’t be together. We had to have things on hold,” said Lisa.
Luckily enough for us, the music is the main thing that apparently brought the pair back together. It’s the reason we love them, and I will absolutely not complain at more Veronicas music coming from a place of healing.
“That’s where the magic of music is truly a spiritual experience. Because that is our language we have together when words are too tough,” said Lisa.
The Veronicas’ massive 13-date national tour starts this week and their brand new album Godzilla is out right fkn now. Brb, just gonna listen to the tracks that brought the band back together and jam.
