The Sydney Monorail Will Be Taken Out To A Farm And Put Down Tonight

The lifeblood of Sydney’s public transportation system, a winding varicose vein skirting the upper inner thigh of the Central Business District, The Monorail will take in its final loop of the city tonight after completing twenty-five years of begrudging, overpriced, intermittent service.

After its final journey at 9:30pm AEST, Sunday June 30th, the Sydney Monorail will rail no more. The New South Wales Government will then take Monorail out to a farm in the country, where it’ll be free to roam in sunny, wide open spaces; where there are other monorails eagerly awaiting its arrival. You’ll be able to visit whenever you want, you just won’t be able to see it anymore, but know that it rides with you in your heart, always.
Forty-eight tickets were issued by ballot to punters hoping to ride the Monorail’s final loop. Those who were unsuccessful in scoring tickets are welcome to stay on the station or stare up at those fated tracks from the gutter and witness that six-car stalwart undertake its final passenger service loop to Heaven.
