The Stars of ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Crushed it at NYC Pride this Weekend

This past weekend, cities around the world held Pride parades in honour of their LGBTQ communities, and while you can’t technically win an event like that, the stars of Orange Is The New Black won the hell out of New York City’s Pride parade.

Stars of the show, including Yael Stone, Samira Wiley, Dascha Polanco, Danielle ‘Taystee’ Brooks, Barbara Rosenblat and Matt McGory rode on a float at the parade, representing Litchfield Correctional Facility.

Orange Is The New Black has been praised for its even-handed depictions of of varying sexualities and gender identities, and the cast were clearly in a party mood when they took to the streets over the weekend.

The vibe was dampened just a little bit when Matt McGorry Tweeted (and subsequently deleted) that he was enjoying being a part of the event, along with the hashtag #NoHomo. McGorry, who is straight, later explained that he thought he was kidding.
In this Tweet from last year, McGorry referred to himself as an “honorary gay”, which is not a thing, but sure.

I’m shamefully behind on my must-see TVs and have not yet caught up with Orange season two, but I’m hoping Red continues to own the prison with an iron fist as she did in season one.
