The ‘Star Wars’ Team Have Absolutely Been Talking About Yr Poe/Finn Ships

Here’s a lovely little slice of delicious stan pie that will dust off any bad vibes you’ve got this week – the Star Wars team are considering exploring a gay relationship plot-line in upcoming films, but just not in ‘The Last Jedi‘.

I know. I know
Fan theories around two lead characters being in a same-sex relationship (*cough* Poe and Finn *cough*) have been swirling ever since we saw the palpable energy and electricity between the two in ‘The Force Awakens. You could cut that vibe with a knife, my good dudes.

SERIOUSLY.
In a recent interview with Spanish cinema publication, eCartelera, LucasFilm prez, Kathleen Kennedy definitely did not knock down the rumours.
“We’ve talked about it, but I think you’re not going to see it in ‘The Last Jedi’,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy also noted that she’s attentive to theories and comments being made by stans, and said that they present new ideas that the Star Wars team can develop out into actual plot-lines.

“After 40 years of adventures people have a lot of information and a lot of theories about the way these stories can take,” Kennedy said.

“Sometimes those theories that come up are new ideas for us to listen to, read and pay attention to.”

So we’re not going to see it happen in the next instalment of the huge empire, but god damn we might just get to see Poe and Finn smewch in the future.

Online, the response has been interesting. A lot of folks out there are wary that Star Wars may be going down the path of queerbaiting, which gives the writing team the opportunity to develop the Poe/Finn plot, and do it right.
