The Sneak Pics From The Battle For Winterfell Are Not Helping Our Anxiety At All

Oh jeez. Oh gosh. Oh jeez, you guys. HBO has very helpfully released six photos from the as-yet-unnamed third episode of Season 8 of Game of Thrones, and they are doing NOTHING for my blood pressure, I can tell you that right now.

We already know that, come Monday, we’re in for an 82-minute slog of a battle with the literal dead that’s probably going to kill off most, if not all, of our secondary-character faves. Showrunners have confirmed that the whole feature-length episode will be devoted to the battle for Winterfell, and frankly I don’t know if my nerves are going to be up to the challenge.

Especially now that I’ve seen these pics, all of which are decidedly ominous.

Who’s this? Oh, just the Hand of the Queen and one of Westeros’s finest political minds, hanging out in the crypts where they keep the dead people, who can conveniently be reanimated by the Night King for murderous ends! So fine! Such a great idea!

And look here, just a happy, not completely shitting herself Sansa sharing a look of sisterly love and bonding with Arya atop Winterfell’s wall!

Hullo, it’s the recently-knighted Ser Brienne of Tarth appearing calm and relaxed alongside an equally calm and relaxed Jaime! Doesn’t seem like they’re about to be ruthlessly murdered and then resurrected as brainless killing machines at all!

Ah, and here’s Jon, a.k.a. Aegon Targaryen (sorry, one moment – no-one has adequately explained to me exactly why Rhaegar Targaryen had two sons and NAMED THEM BOTH AEGON. Is that not confusing? What is going on here? Nerds! Explain yourselves!) – anyway he’s looking fresh and rosy as well. Sure doesn’t look like anything is on fire behind him, or like he’s staring down the barrel of certain doom.

What’s on the cards for the hottest incestuous king and queen couple in the North? A whole lot of foreboding staring from a great distance at Winterfell, it appears. At least it’s not on fire. Yet.

Yeah, Sansa. My thoughts exactly.
