The New ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops III’ Trailer Takes Us 50 Years Into The Future

The team behind the wildly successful Call of Duty game franchise sure as shit aren’t mucking around. With the franchise already covering huge amounts of battlefield ground, the looming new instalment is pushing ahead – 50 years into the future.

Publishing company Activision is gearing up for a “world reveal” of Black Ops III – the newest episode in the saga – on April 26th (presumably the 27th in local time).
We’ve already seen one reasonably vague and cryptic teaser for the title that revealed very little beyond its’ assumed name. Now there’s another to add to the growing hype.
Like the first trailer, this one features precisely zero in-game footage or even the slightest hint at what it will present gameplay wise. What we do have, however, is a rather intriguing compacted timeline of the evolution of technology and its impact and integration with the human body, starting well into the past, reaching us here in the present, before shooting off well into the future to a time where technology has grown beyond our capacity to control and understand it.
Aside from being a pretty badass teaser for a video game, the trailer itself actually raises a few genuinely intriguing questions and concepts about our technological future – particularly with regards to things like sporting endeavours.

What implications this mindset holds for the eventual game is, at this stage, anyone’s guess.
Even still, it’s probably smart to start warming up those thumbs. When it drops, you’re gonna want to be ready.
