The Muppets Launch Campaign To Host The Oscars

Brett Ratner was ostensibly fired from producing the 2012 Academy Awards after using the expression “fag” – a less than ideal word to bandy about in an industry heavily populated by gay people. Now Ratner’s choice of host Eddie Murphy has subsequently withdrawn from hosting duties because he’s obviously a major wet blanket. So the big question is: who’s gonna step into the hosting shoes?

A group of ingenious internet trolls have started advocating for the gig to be taken on by a troupe of seasoned performers. They are a multi-talented team of showbiz stalwarts who are the embodiment of diversity. Who are they?

Cue music!

An Oscars ceremony hosted by The Muppets is something I would like to see. And with a surging viral campaign behind them coupled with a timely film release it’s not entirely implausible.

The Hollywood Shrine has balcony seats so it’s practically built to suit Statler and Waldorf, Kermit looks incredible in a tux, and you’ll never hear the Swedish Chef use the word “fag”.

Join the campaign on Facebook or Twitter and get behind the cause.
