The Just-Announced, Open-World ‘Legend Of Zelda’ Looks Freakin’ Huge And Epic

Gather round, nerds – there’s a new Legend Of Zelda game coming in 2015 on WiiU, and it looks like it’s going to be huge. Nintendo debuted a gameplay trailer earlier today during an E3 presentation, and it’s fair to say that it looks like no other Zelda game before.

Series director Eiji Aonuma announced that the forthcoming Zelda will be a free-roaming open world game along the lines of Skyrim, making it drastically different from earlier games in the series, which stick to a pretty tight explore-the-dungeon, fight-the-boss script.

“Puzzle-solving in this game begins the moment the player starts to
think about where they want to go, how they will get there, and what
they will do when they arrive,” said Aonuma, explaining the scope of the upcoming game.

True, a lot of what he showed was just gently-swishing, sun-dappled grass in what I’m guessing is Hyrule Field, but holy shit, how inviting does that gently-swishing grass look, and how exciting would it be to gallop off and explore those distant mountains?

Also, how freakin cool and pretty-looking is that enemy encounter at the end?!

This game might even be the incentive you need to finally pick up a WiiU. Nintendo are certainly hoping so.
