The Internet’s Dancing Man Got His Insane Dance Party

A few months ago Sean O’Brien was a just a humble, ordinary Scouser with a move that required busting. Then the dickhead actions of a pair of complete scumbags unwittingly set events in motion that wound up turning Sean into the faec of a global movement.

Thanks to a pair of fat-shaming jerks who shared a heartbreaking picture of a dejected Sean after they’d laughed at him for having the nerve to dance, the Internet Dancing Man was born.
The search for, finding of, and crowdfunding for Sean culminated over the weekend in an enormous, glorious, celebrity-filled dance party in Los Angeles held in his honour, with the man himself cutting several thousand rugs, hugging all the people, taking all the photos, and generally having an absolute blast.
The entire search – and subsequent trip – was the brainchild of Cassandra Fairbanks and Hope Leigh, who helped organise the party held in O’Brien’s honour, turning it into a giant party celebrating acceptance and freedom of expression, whilst raising awareness about the dangers of body shaming and cyber bullying.
As if a party borne of such overwhelming positivity needed any additional confirmation, the Party King himself Andrew WK was among the many notable attendees.

The event was also backed by Pharrell, whilst Moby volunteered his time and talents to DJ the event.

But far from being a quick skip across the Atlantic to tear shit up, O’Brien’s visit Stateside also included a whirlwind slate of media and public appearances, including dancing with Meghan Trainor on the Today Show

…and throwing out the first pitch at an LA Dodgers game.

Then, finally, famed Hollywood spot the Avalon played host to the enormous dance party.

The party even managed to raise $30,000 for various anti-bullying charities and organisations.

So many good vibes tonight. #dancingmanparty #dancingman

Said O’Brien of the entire chain of events:

“The positivity of it all. So many good people out there. This all started because somebody tried to be nasty and it turned good so quickly.”

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I’m going to grasp it with both hands.”

You go get it, Sean O’Brien.

Get. It. MATE.
