Somebody Please Inject Netflix’s New Teen Love Story ‘The Half Of It’ Straight Into My Veins

The Half Of It

Well I hope you’re ready to cry your bloody eyes out, because Netflix has unveiled the trailer for The Half Of It, a teen love story from American writer and director Alice Wu. It looks so lovely and heartfelt and genuine, I’ve already blocked out the entire first weekend of May to watch and re-watch it.

The Half Of It tells the story of 17-year-old Ellie Chu, a shy, straight-A student who lives in the tiny town of Squahamish. Ellie makes her money writing essays for other students, but one day, sweet but inarticulate jock Paul Munsky hires her to write love letters for his crush – the popular girl Aster Flores. And so she does, eventually becoming friends with Paul. But their new and unlikely friendship gets complicated when Ellie discovers she has feelings for Aster too.

There are so many things I love about the trailer, like finally forming a genuine bond with another human being. But I just spotted Ellie sitting down with Paul with a Yakult in her hand and now I’m sobbing uncontrollably at my desk. My heart is full.

Leah Lewis stars as Ellie, Daniel Diemer as Paul, and Alexxis Lemire as Aster.

The Half Of It premieres May 1 on Netflix. Add it to your isolation watch list right now. Do it.

Anyway, this is me.

I CAN’T WAIT.
