The Paramount Network made the announcement earlier this year and have just cast two of their three leading ladies, played by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton in the OG 1996 film of the same name.

Grammy winner Jill Scott (Why Did I Get Married?and comedian Michelle Buteau (Broad Cityhave signed on to the project with Scott playing Hazel, “a music superstar who has been silenced by her unfaithful husband and manager for years” while Buteau plays Bree, “a doctor and overwhelmed mother whose husband cheats on her” and Buteau playing a music superstar who has been silenced by her unfaithful husband and manager for years”, via PEOPLE.

One can only assume that a third jilted wife is set to be cast to mirror the three gals of the cult classic film.

The writer of hit comedy flick Girls Trip, Tracy Oliver will pen the series while Karen Rosenfelt from the Twilight saga and Scott Rudin, who produced the original movie, fill the role of executive producers.

Oliver expressed her excitement over the first two cast members on Twitter.

“SO excited to welcome these two crazy talented ladies, @missjillscott and @MichelleButeau, to the #FirstWivesClub!!!” she wrote. “We bout to have @paramountnet LIT in 2019!!!”

“Thank you for believing,” Scott replied.

“Hello sugars!!! Siced to announce @michellebuteau and I have joined the cast of Tracy Oliver’s “The #FirstWivesClub,” coming to @ParamountNetwork. Yup Shawtie gotta gig.????????,” Jill wrote via Instagram.

While Michelle wrote, “I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, because I mean it, my heart is full and my pants are tight. #thankful#grateful #firstwivesclub #tracyoliver#jillscott #bossassbishes #paramount#skinnyjeans #taperedankle ????.”

Production is set to start in New York City at the end of this year and every single one of my body parts are crossed that Middler, Keaton and Hawn cameo in the series to perform the ~iconic~ ‘You Don’t Own Me’ song and dance number.
