‘The Crown’ S2 Trailer Is Here And There’s Maximum Royal Tension

At long last, Netflix‘s smash hit The Crown is back, for all you royalty nerds out there. The trailer for season two promises maximum tension between Queen Elizabeth (Claire Foy) and Prince Philip (Matt Smith) as the royal family finds itself increasingly irrelevant during the revolutionary era of the 1960s.

“The monarchy’s too fragile, you keep telling me yourself,” an irate Queen tells her husband. “One more scandal, one more national embarrassment, and it would all be over.”

This season covers the tumultuous time following the end of WWII, beginning with Her Majesty’s Armed Forces fighting an illegal war in Egypt, and ending with the downfall of her third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, after a devastating scandal.

It’s also the last season we’ll see Foy embody the long-standing British monarch, before Olivia Colman comes in as her replacement in seasons three and four.

Have a watch of the trailer below, and mark Friday 8 December in your calendars for a solid eight hours of binging.
