The Chaser Lads Are Opening A New Sydney Venue

The earnest journalists behind The Chaser and its affiliated IRL trolling television programs are taking over a Sydney performing arts venue and launching a new event space to host the production of future broadcast projects, as well as a succession of live events ranging from story telling to erotic fan fiction, improv nights and confessional cabarets all taking place within the comfort of a morally-lax, inhibition-deterring, fully-licensed venue. Writes The Chaser on their Facebook page:

After starting The Chaser newspaper and various TV shows, we have decided that we want to fail in yet another artistic venture we know nothing about. So we’re opening a venue in Sydney’s Redfern.

Taking its name from our TV production company, Giant Dwarf is a new event space located in the 199 Cleveland St Theatre, which from 1983 to 2007 was the home of the Performance Space.

As well as TV production for our projects like The Checkout and The Hamster Wheel, Giant Dwarf will host a regular series of live nights including; Story Club, The Bear Pack, Erotic Fan Fiction, The Chaser’s Empty Vessel and many more.”
You can find out more about each event taking place between February 10th to May 5th on their Eventbrite page. The Chaser’s Chris Taylor is also starring in an upcoming comedic web series, Plonk, with a foresight to satirise the pretentiousness of slaves to the Australian grape. It premieres February 10 at www.youtube.com/roadtoplonk.
