‘The Book Of Mormon’ Does Bulk Numbers, Smashes Box Office Record

In news that should shock precisely nobody, The Book Of Mormon has reportedly smashed box office records at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre, a mere week after tickets went on sale.

For a show that’s still a year away.

Before the musical bicycles its way into Australian hearts and minds in January 2017, it’s already sold more tickets in advance than any other production in the Theatre’s 159-year history.

That means it could very well be the most hyped show ever to grace our shores, and for good reason: in case you’ve been avoiding info on the play like you avoid doorknockers on a crisp Saturday morn, South Park masterminds Trey Parker & Matt Stone’s play has racked up thousands of sold-out performances worldwide while nabbing stacks of legitimate accolades.

General auditions have just wrapped up. Tickets for shows through to March 2017 are still available on the play’s Australian site, with the first (nearly sold-out) previews kicking off January 18.
