The Bachelorette Australia Might Be Coming Your Way Very Soon

Here’s something to file under ‘Great Ideas’, sub-heading ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’
As the nation waits with baited breath for Blake Garvey and Sam Frost, two strangers who met in front of cameras in the high-pressure environment of a reality TV dating contest, to reveal why their relationship didn’t work out, Channel Ten might be doubling down and sending another young woman out to look for love.
The Bachelor Australia was a massive success for Ten, and tomorrow night’s episode of The Project, in which Garvey and Frost reveal the reasons for their break-up, will likely goose ratings even further. They’d be mad not to ride this train as far as it can go, and The Herald Sun today report that a planned spin-off, The Bachelorette Australia, looks very likely to go ahead.
The Herald Sun report that Sam Frost herself might be the one handing out roses in the series – while that seems highly unlikely, and would make her a glutton for punishment the likes of which Australian TV has never seen, it would definitely make for compelling viewing. Fan-favourites Lisa Hyde, Louise Pillidge and former runner-up Rochelle Emanuel-Smith are reportedly also in contention.
The fact that large groups of buff dudes – especially tradesman – are a proven ratings-booster on Australian TV probably wouldn’t hurt The Bachelorette Australia‘s chances of success, either.
A representative for Ten said “we are always thinking about how we can build our key program brands, including The Bachelor, which has been a television, online and social media sensation this year,” after which a giant pair of comedy sunglasses descended onto her face, and the words ‘DEAL WITH IT’ appeared in flashing 1000pt font.
Garvey spoke to News Corp ahead of his interview on The Project, because of course he did, and said of his break-up with Frost:

“Sadly, Sam and I have parted ways. I have so much love, care and respect for her but unfortunately the relationship hasn’t worked. As with any breakup it’s not only heartbreaking but incredibly disappointing. We have been though an unforgettable experience together, which I’ll always cherish.”

Boo. Just get to the juicy part already.
