The Aussie ‘I’m A Celebrity’ is Struggling to Get Celebrities

A few months ago, when it emerged that Channel Ten was putting together its own version of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!we suggested a few potential cast members, including Frances Abbott, and Kyle Sandilands.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like you’ll be getting anyone as entertaining as those two on the show … in fact, per a fairly snarky report in The Sydney Morning Herald, the network is having trouble finding “plausible candidates” full stop.
Celebrity vet Chris Brown and comedian Julia Morris have been announced as the hosts of the show, which will debut in late February, so any small purse dogs present on set will be fine. As for actual celebrity cast members, though, the cupboard’s looking bloody bare.
A few have allegedly already said no, however. There are scurrilous rumours (aka the most fun kind) circulating that columnist Ros Reines and bipedal human organism Sophie Monk have already turned down $60,000 a week to be part of the show.
Back in 2013, Channel 7’s Celebrity Splash! put the likes of Brynne Edelstein and Adam Richard on the diving board, so the definition of ‘celebrity’ when it comes to these things is a fairly broad.
Regardless, right about now, I would assume that Ten is putting in a lot of calls to Neighbours stars, Project panelists, former breakfast TV hosts and anyone else willing to eat bugs on national TV.
Bachelor Blake would be a slam dunk at this point, but don’t hold your breath.
UPDATE 2:56PM.
We have since spoken to a Network spokesperson who told us:

“Network Ten expects and welcomes speculation on the celebrities taking part on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! However we are not having trouble recruiting celebrities for the show. Casting for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is all about the balance of celebrities. We are casting for all ages and personality types to be part of the cast, like an extended family, and have chosen not to reveal the full line-up until the first episode.”

You may now recommence Bachelor Blake related breath-holding.
