That Hillary Clinton Episode Of Broad City Is Fkn Finally Out This Week

We all saw that tweet in December. You know, that one in which presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said she was on the set of ‘Broad City’. It’s hard to forget, because many were absolutely bloody dumbfounded by it.

There’s so many questions to ask:
  • Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are incredible comedians, don’t get us wrong, we LOVE them – but is Broad City big enough to have Hillary on the show? How did they even tee this up?
  • What on EARTH will H-Clinton be doing on such a progressive, weed-heavy show?
  • How the bloody hell does she have time when she’s in the middle of a giant presidential campaign?
  • Don’t Abbi & Ilana’s politics kinda line up with Bernie Sanders? At least more so than Hillary?
And now, all of our questions have answers. Abbi and Ilana appeared today on a panel at SXSW, and cleared everything up – and announced that the Hillary episode would be airing in the US this week.
Firstly – the BC gals managed to pull this off with a little help from their friend and executive producer, the illustrious Amy Poehler, due to her impersonating the politician on ‘Saturday Night Live’ for several years now.
Hillary will be playing herself in the episode, obvi. Ilana gets fired from her job at the Groupon-esque company for accidentally sharing a beastiality video on the company account, and somehow manages to get a gig in the Clinton campaign.
Thirdly, how the ferk does Hillz have time to do this when she’s currently trying to beat Donald Trump to death campaign for the presidency? Well, according to E!, she only spent 45 minutes on set.
Finally – yes, ~on paper~ the Broad City gals’ political sentiments definitely line up way more with Bernie. But, they implied that they don’t believe Hillary appearing on the show is an endorsement:
Abbi: “That’s not our show, really, we’re not making a political stance here. It was really more that this is something Ilana’s character would do. And Hillary, regardless of where we stand — and we love Hillary — Hillary is such an iconic figure right now and she has been.”
Ilana: “We’re trying to make really good TV. I wonder how you’ll feel after seeing it. I think you’ll agree that it’s a really good episode of TV because Hillary Clinton is in it.”
Oh, and the episode is also guest-starring Alan Alda, Rachel Dratch, and Cynthia Nixon as well.
No matter where your US politics knowledge sits, this episode sounds DOPE.
