Jumanji meets Animorphs in Hollywood’s latest nostalgia-driven reboot, as a ‘Goosebumps‘ movie is now a thing we must deal with – R.L Stine‘s classic series-cum-feature is slated for a release this Halloween.
A Jack Black-led ‘Goosebumps’ isn’t a strict adaptation of the 62 books R.L Stine penned by any means – Jack Black takes on the tortured horror writer R.L Stine himself, while the books’ beasts come alive – in a way that tragically fails to pander to the audience it should be (the OG readers of Goosebumps), and instead aims for a new generation of fans.
Make no mistake: this doesn’t even come close to one of the poorer Treehouse Of Horror offerings; it does, however, stir some deep-set nostalgia within us, so we’ll allow it.
