Teen Fined After Getting Stuck in Gold Coast Nightclub Roof

Here’s to the folly of youth. Here’s to having a grand old night out. Here’s to Hugh McMahon, the Irish teen who recently became wedged in the roof of a Gold Coast nightclub while trying to sneak in, and had to be rescued by the fire department.
ABC News report that the 18-year-old McMahon, who appeared before Southport Magistrates Court yesterday on a variety of charges, had been ejected twice from the club, called Sin City, before trying to sneak back in.
First, he was kicked out when security guards found him sleeping on a couch in the venue; next, he was bounced when he was discovered on the dance floor. That’s when he resorted to more drastic measures.
The teen was reportedly discovered wedged in a roof cavity of the club just before 1.00am, so close to freedom that he could almost taste his next Bundy and Coke, and yet so very far away.
McMahon pleaded guilty to trespassing, wilful damage and two counts of being refused entry into a licensed premises. He was fined $900, and ordered to pay an additional $1700 for damage to the club’s roof.
“Drunk or sober it is a remarkably stupid thing you’ve done,” the magistrate said during his sentencing. Hugh McMahon, we hope you never lose that fire that burns inside you and never, ever stop partying.
