If there’s one thing I can’t get enough of, it’s petty little fights between famous people. I know, I know, I shouldn’t be encouraging this sort of negativity, but it’s so funny to me when extremely privileged people with millions of dollars get into tiffs about the dumbest things. One of my favourite celeb beefs has got to be Taylor Swift vs. Kanye West / Kim Kardashian, which is still quietly but fiercely simmering after more than two years.
In fact, today is the anniversary of an important milestone in the feud, namely the tweet Kardashian posted shortly after the controversy surrounding her husbo’s song Famous kicked off.

The “snake tweet” is now the stuff of legend, and caused many Kimye sympathisers to flood the comments of Swift’s Instagram with bulk snake emojis.
But Swift has somehow managed to turn the snake into a symbol of strength and rebirth. After going off the grid for awhile while recording her album Reputation (which in itself features several lyrical nods to the West and Kardashian biffo), Swift nuked her Insta and reactivated it last year with, of course, a big fkn snake.
She’s also been quoted as saying on stage on the opening night of her Reputation world tour: “A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake and it caught on. I wanted to send a message that if someone uses name calling to bully you, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.”
And now, on the 2-year anniversary of Kardashian’s tweet, Swift is throwing subtle yet oh-so-public shade of her own to mark the occasion, via her snakeskin backpack.
And Twitter is living for it.
