Tamra Davis Cooking Show Or When Famous People Cook For Other Famous People

Wife of Beastie Boy Mike D, accomplished music video Director (Veruca Salt, Faith No More, Depeche Mode, Sonic Youth), feature film Director (Billy Madison and Britney Spears’ Crossroads), Mother of two, blogger and food enthusiast are but some of the varied designations held by Tamra Davis.

She also possesses a Rolodex filled with celebrity pals and no self-awareness whatsoever. Take for instance this endorsement from a friend:

“My friend Tamra Davis and I have so much in common, it’s ridiculous. We are both mothers of two small children, in the film business, are passionate amateur cooks, have an obsession with Vegenaise, are married to musicians and have a similar food ethos. Like most of us ladies out there, we are also attempting to balance it all. – Gwynyth

Pretty funny right? Well that tidbit is provided, as you may have guessed, from Gwynyth Paltrow’s website GOOP. That’s the caliber of ridiculousness we’re dealing with here and part of the reason Tamra’s show is so damn addictive. I watch it just for the off chance that Shaq gets invited over for vege burgers and lemonade or maybe Robert De Niro will indulge in Tamra’s homemade corn fritters. Hell if the celebrity power exhibited thus far is any indication that De Niro pipe dream is actually pretty feasible.

Check out the below videos featuring Tamra’s famous friends referred to nonchalantly by first name alone. It may be blind jealousy talking but we can’t work out whether Tamra earnestly underplays her celebrity connections (Like hanging out with Christy Turlington in the Hamptons or chilling with Ben Stiller on your Summer vacay is no biggie) or whether she’s rubbing her enviable lifestyle in the faces of us meat eating, douche befriending, poor common folk. Either way it’s pretty ridiculous (like we need instructions to boil corn?) and strangely watchable…

Sam Fogarino from Interpol: “We have a dinner party in New York and our friend Sam from Interpol makes a delicious spaghetti and Dave Sokolin gives us a lesson on how to taste wine.”

Kelly Slater: “Kelly Slater comes over and I make an appetizer of corn on the cob before we head out to dinner.”

Beastie Boys: “Mike’s band comes over for lunch while on a west coast tour.”

Christy Turlington and Ed Burns: “This is the third and final part of the Hamptons Show. I make a delicious Tempeh Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato and Avocado sandwich with a Lentil, Candied Walnut and Beet Salad for the adults and Peanut Butter, Banana, Honey and Sesame Seed Sandwiches for the kids on our last day with Christy and Ed in the Hamptons.”

Ben Stiller: “We invited some friends over for an asian themed dinner on the island of Kauai. I made a hijiki salad, pineapple upside-down cake and ahi tuna burgers. “
