Sydney School Girl Survives Fake Bomb Ordeal

Yesterday in the Sydney suburb of Mosman an 18-year-old school girl, Madeleine Pulver, got about as close to being a Bruce Willis movie as it gets when a balaclava-clad man attached a bomb to her neck before leaving her with a ransom note.

After a 10 hour ordeal specialist bomb disposal technicians confirmed that the “collar bomb” (which is a real thing) was in fact an elaborate fake.

Even Prime Minister Julia Gillard agreed the whole scenario was utterly surreal, telling Fairfax Radio in Perth: “When I looked at it this morning the first thing I said was it’s like a Hollywood script, the kind of thing you would see at the cinema or on TV. You would never expect it to happen in real life in Australia.”

There’s no word yet on who the assailant was, but police suspect Pulver had been targeted because her family is super rich. Legit First World problems.
