Ex-‘Block’ Star Suzi Taylor Jailed Over Alleged Robbery And Assault Of Date

Suzi Taylor, the former model who competed on the 2015 season of The Block, has been been refused bail for her part in the alleged robbery and bashing of a man she met on a dating app.

Queensland Police allege that a 33-year-old man went to a home in the inner-city Brisbane suburb of New Farm in the early hours of October 30, after meeting Taylor earlier in the night.

A short time later, the 49-year-old reality star allegedly demanded money from the man. Per an official police statement:

“When the man didn’t comply, another man allegedly entered the room and assaulted the 33-year-old man and held him against his will. The woman also allegedly assaulted the man before the pair forced the man to undertake an online transaction. The pair then allegedly stole his bank card and withdrew a sum of money.”

Suzi Taylor and her associate, 22-year-old Ali Ebrahimi, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, with her solicitor claiming Ebrahimi was the principal offender.

The pair were charged with one count each of extortion, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm and possessing dangerous drugs.

Taylor was already on bail over her alleged involvement in an unrelated series of offenses including burglary and receiving stolen property, and was due to appear in court over these next month.

Given her involvement in this and also a separate driving matter, magistrate John McGrath denied her bail and remanded her in custody, saying her risk of re-offending was “simply unacceptable.”

This means she will likely remain behind bars until December.

Taylor and her friend Yvonne Cosier won a combined $349,000 on The Block in 2015, but the following year, Cosier revealed that they had not spoken since the finale.

At one point, Taylor was found unconscious on the set of the show, and taken to hospital where she was treated for an anxiety attack. She later said:

“If I’ve caused anyone any embarrassment, I totally regret it. I’ve had a lot of personal issues in my life which I suppose a lot of people do … I’m on the road to recovery and thank you so much for supporting me.”
