Susser Zombie Flick Next For Blue Tongue Films?

What’s next for the world beating boys at Blue Tongue Films? Following the release of David Michod’s Animal Kingdom, Spencer Susser’s Hesher, the US release of Joel and Nash Edgerton’s The Square and the impending release of Kieran Darcy-Smith’s feature length debut Say Nothing – the next project from team Blue Tongue could be a feature length version of Susser’s 2007 zombie short, I Love Sarah Jane. The original – a post-apocalyptic short helmed by Susser on a script co-penned by Michod – starred a then unknown Mia Wasikowska as the titular Sarah Jane, a shovel-wielding zombie killer and the object of some adorable puppy love. Equal parts awww and arrgghh.

Though we have no idea who else will work on the project (yet) Michod stressed the collaborative nature of the group’s writing process when we spoke with him last year: “The writing that I’ve done with Spencer Susser on “Hesher” and “I Love Sarah Jane” and writing that I’ve done with Nash Edgerton, I enjoy that kind of work. It’s almost always a scenario where those guys have come to me with an idea of some kind, even just a really basic idea, and then we flesh it out together and I enjoy doing that.”

Needless to say we’d love to see a feature length I Love Sarah Jane go into production, especially if they’re able to secure Wasikowska again. Check out the original short below…
