Season 6 of Australian Survivor has officially been postponed to avoid further spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

According to Network 10, production on the sixth season of the Australian leg of the franchise has been postponed following recent travel bans amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Following the Australian Government’s latest advice on overseas travel, plus discussions with the Fijian Government, production of the new season of Australian Survivor has been postponed,” a spokesperson told 10 Daily.

“While this news is disappointing, the health and safety of everyone involved with the show is our number one priority. We will update everyone on when production will start as soon as we can.”

The news comes after the show’s host Jonathan LaPaglia (our man JLP) was unable to attend this season’s finale due to the current travel ban, only being able to appear via satellite while Aussie reality TV king Osher Gunsberg takes the reigns for the season finale.

“The welfare of everyone involved in our shows is our number one priority so the filming will not have a live audience and host Jonathan LaPaglia will stay in the USA rather than travel to Australia,” a spokesperson said earlier this week.

Survivor’s postponement follows countless shows forgoing live audiences or cancelling broadcasts as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. z

Australian Survivor season 6 was set to premiere later in 2020, but it’s unclear if and when we’ll be seeing it on our screens.

More to come.
