Studios Are Looking To Block A Further 74 Pirate Sites In Australia

If you’re still sneakily pirating films and TV shows, and haven’t yet figured out how to circumvent the various blocks currently in place, your options are about to get more limited.
A group of major studios have collectively filed an application in the Federal Court of NSW, asking for 74 more pirate sites to be blocked in Australia, which would bring the total blocked to 135.
The move comes after a ruling last year that grated studios like Roadshow and Warner Bros the right to have internet service providers block access to approximately 61 pirate sites, including major players like The Pirate Bay
The application, which represents a further attempt by studios to stay ahead of pirates, seeks to limit Aussie access to sites such as Limetorrents, Putlocker, Kinogo and Megashare.
The application said, in part: “The owners or operators of the target online locations demonstrate a disregard for copyright generally, in that they provide easy access to the copyright works of others, in many cases on a free basis.”

Representatives of major telcos Telstra and Optus have indicted that both companies will comply with any court orders that are made, as they have in the past.
There will be a hearing on March 23
