This Student Photographer’s Insta Is Changing The Way People See Acne

Pimples are generally total buzzkills, it’s true, but the thing about acne is that WE ALL BLOODY WELL GET IT.

Like, whether it’s just a bad run with it in your teen years or the kind that pops up every now and again as an adult, bad skin is a fairly universal experience, so why is that peeps are always so damn ashamed of it all?

One artist trying to lessen the amount of stigma attached to acne is Peter DeVito a 20-year-old photographer studying in New York, who’s Instagram account is gaining traction around the world for it’s unique and refreshing take on beauty:

His photography work, which stays away from heavy re-touching or masking away human imperfections, started because amidst the new wave of self-awareness and body inclusivity, Peter noticed a lack of acne-related art, telling Elle:

I was really inspired because a lot of people on social media started posting things about body positivity and self-acceptance, but I felt like there was an absence of people with acne.

DeVito says the project brings him joy just in the way it empowers others to embrace their natural selves:

I’m hoping that people will just start to learn to accept themselves more and not compare themselves to what other people look like.

We love it sick!
