Steve Carell Is Absolutely Down To Love More Lamp In An ‘Anchorman 3’

Wanna feel old? Anchorman 2 came out five years ago. FIVE YEARS AGO. The sequel to the hugely popular 2004 (!!!) original came out in late November 2013. And while those facts alone are enough to give you the vapours, take solace in the fact that as far as any potential third efforts are concerned, Steve Carell is absolutely down.

Carell, it would seem, is absolutely ready to step back into the Pants Store getup of Brick Tamland at the drop of a hat, according to a new interview.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the premiere of his new movie Welcome To Marwen, Carell noted that a) working on an Anchorman film is exactly as ridiculous and fun as you think it is, and b) if those in charge decide to do another one, old mate will be there in a heartbeat.

If they make another one, I’ll do another one. Those are really fun. That’s just hanging out with friends and being silly.

Carell also touched on Will Ferrell‘s upcoming in-character Ron Burgandy podcast, promising that “if [Ferrell] wants me to come in and say some non-sequiturs as Brick, of course. I would in a second.

Surprisingly enough, an Anchorman 3 isn’t really that far-fetched. Will Ferrell has repeatedly stated “never say never” to a third movie, noting the march of age would be a good jumping off point for the characters. Meanwhile director Adam McKay stated back in March that they have the germ of an idea for a third movie that would involve embedding Burgandy and co overseas as war correspondents in the Gulf War.

What does it all mean? Hard to say. Best we can conclude right now is that it’s not not happening.

Frankly, that’s all the Afternoon Delight we need.
