Stephan Elliott Nominated For Gay Community’s Highest Honour

Two drag queens and a transsexual get a cabaret gig in the middle of the desert.

That not-entirely-commercial conceit was the brainchild of writer-director Stephan Elliott that became the unstoppable bus ride of camp known as The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The Academy Award winning, BAFTA-nominated film is one of the finest, most fun and most pathos-enthused that Australia has ever produced and spawned a stage musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical.

The musical incarnation of Priscilla has earned Elliott and writing partner Allan Scott a nomination for a GLAAD Media Award in the category for Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway and Off-Broadway. The GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Award is one of the gay community’s highest honours, dedicated to recognising outstanding media images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community that inspire change.

Congratulations Stephen and Allan.
