Thanks to the deluge of shitposting that’s kept the cream of The Simpsons alive (generally considered to be seasons 2 through 12), a number of extremely obscure memes based around certain scenes have taken on a life of their own. One such scene is the classic Steamed Hams bit from season 7.

If you haven’t seen the episode ‘22 Short Films About Springfield‘ (sort your shit out), it does pretty much what it says on the tin. It shows 22 short segments starring many of the auxiliary characters throughout the town, one of which involves a delightful yet clumsy luncheon hosted by principal Seymour Skinner. You can watch the original scene below.

The internet has been taking the piss out of the segment for a little while now, but recently, some absolutely insane edits have appeared in all sorts of different styles. I’m not entirely sure who started the craze, but I’d wager it took off via the Facebook page, Simpsons Shitposting.

While a lot of them are just done for the sake of obscurity, the recent trend seems to be fitting them into the style of certain video games. The results, folks, are nothing short of fucking excellent. Here’s some of the best below.

If you didn’t lose your mind when the “!” sound played, you’ve clearly never played a Metal Gear Solid game. Also note the “Cromulent Espionage Action” tagline. Total genius. Here’s some more.

God damn, that’s some tremendous internet. Some other Steamed Hams edits prefer TV shows over video games. For example, the two below are built on Twin Peaks.

Sensational. And just for shits and giggles, here’s some of the, uh, weirder additions I mentioned earlier.

Finally, he beholds the atmospheric marvel he yearns for. As long as online weirdos keep creating content from the smallest snippets of the best episodes, maybe we can all forget that the beloved cartoon turned to heaping trash in its latter years and relive the best parts for all eternity.
