13 Celebrity Cameos In ‘The Last Jedi’ You Almost Definitely Missed

Okay, WARNING: This post is about to contain spoilers for The Last Jedi, so if you haven’t seen it yet, gently close this tab and report to your nearest cinema at your earliest convenience.

RUUUUUUUUUUUUN.

There were loads of cameos in The Last Jedi that you may or may not have missed, in between the huge ginormous space opera of a film. There were also a few famous ones that were straight-up cut from the movie. Here’s your guide to every famous face that now gets to say they were in a Star Wars film.

PRINCE WILLIAM AND PRINCE HARRY

Guess being born a royal doesn’t just get you a nice selection of castles to live in, but also a spot in the new Star Wars film – probably without auditioning, either.

The princes played Stormtroopers (of course they were with the First Order), reportedly in a scene where Finn (John Boyega) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) infiltrate Supreme Leader Snoke‘s ship, The Supremacy.

There was a bit of  confusion as Boyega claimed they were cut from the film, but a spokesperson told the Daily Mail: “I can confirm he was joking.”

GARY BARLOW AND TOM HARDY

These two apparently also appeared as Stormtroopers, with Boyega telling The Hollywood Reporter that they, along with Princes William and Harry, made “a strange contrast of a weird family.”

CARRIE FISHER’S DOG, GARY.

Gary the DogCarrie Fisher‘s beloved pup – had a brief, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo as an alien dog in the Canto Bight casino. Director Rian Johnson confirmed it, so now it’s official: Gary is Star Wars canon.

Excuse us while we violently sob.

JUSTIN THEROUX AND LILY COLE

These two also appeared in the Canto Bight casino scene – and for more than a split-second, too. Theroux plays the hacker in the red broach who Finn and Rose are trying to find, and whom Maz Kanata has definitely fucked.

Yeaaaaah, get it girl.

JOSEPH GORDEN-LEVITT

The actor is a good friend of Johnson’s, and has appeared in every single one of the directors filmed. In this case, he plays an alien called Slowen-Lo – apparently a reference to the Beastie Boys song, ‘Slow and Low‘ – who informs the Canto Bight police that some absolute bloody hooligans (Finn and Rose) parked their ship on the beach. (TBH, we’re going to need to see a version of this scene slowed right down to spot all these cameos.)

NOAH SEGAN

Noah Segan is the other actor Gordon-Levitt was referring to. He appeared in the opening space battle, as X-Wing pilot Stomeroni Starck. Fans on Twitter are imagining a whole backstory for that one, concerned look he shoots another, female pilot.

WARWICK DAVIS

Warwick Davis has appeared in a Star Wars film in every stage of the trilogy. He first made an appearance as Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi, then he came back for cameos in The Phantom Menace and The Force Awakens. In The Last Jedi, he appears as yet another bougie gambler in Canto Bight – and he’s set to appear in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, too.

ELLIE GOUDLING

The singer appeared as one of the rebels, according to her own tweets, but no one seems to be quite sure if she made the final cut yet or not.

EDGAR WRIGHT

The Baby Driver director appeared as a rebel soldier in the film, alongside his brother Oscar Wright and director Joe Cornish. “I play rebel scum with a gun,” he told The Observer. “You’d had to look hard for me but I’m in a three-second shot. I was very proud of Rian. He did a great job.”

GARETH EDWARDS

Well this is a bit cute: turns out the Rogue One director and the Last Jedi director had cameos in each other’s films. Johnson appeared in the firing chamber of the Death Star in Rogue One, and Edwards turned up as a rebel fighter preparing to defend the Resistance’s stronghold in The Last Jedi.
