Star Wars Episode VIII Is Going To Be “Much Darker”, Warns John Boyega

The hype still hasn’t died down from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but that ain’t stopping everyone from hassling cast members about what the next instalment will bring.

John Boyega, who plays fabulously traitorous ex-Stormtrooper Finnspoke to Vogue UK about his role and current filming schedule, and divulged a simple detail that seems to have satisfied the masses (for now):

“We [sic] just starting work on Star Wars VIII, the next film, so I’m back to keeping secrets again… It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”
He also mentioned that Finn is ‘more physical’ in the next film, so training for VIII is far more intense than it was for TFA:
“No, for this film we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn’t a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more.”
Well fkn obviously, John. If The Force Awakens = A New Hope, then surely that means that VIII = The Empire Strikes Back, right? Have you seen Episode V?! It’s darker, more emotional, and it was the rare sequel that was (we’ll say ‘debatably’, for the sake of inclusiveness) better than its predecessor.
Oh god… and now we have to wait until May 26, 2017.
WHY MUST WE LOVE THIS GODDAMN FRANCHISE SO GODDAMN MUCH?
