Local streaming service Stan has officially declared itself the David to Netflix‘s Goliath, ramping up its original offering with the commission of four killer local shows – including one from Triple J fave Matt Okine and the boys from Aunty Donna.
Matt’s commission is a semi-autobiographical show called The Other Guy, which follows a successful radio host who finds himself single for the first time in 10 years after discovering his long-term girlfriend has been having an affair with his best friend *cough cough, sound familiar, cough cough*. To make things even more complicated, she might be up the duff.
Not only will be write the series – alongside Becky Lucas and Greg Waters – but we get to see his mug on the big screen as the show’s lead.
Tbh this is almost as fire as the time a wax likeness of himself was burnt in Paris Hilton‘s House of Wax #neverforget.
As for the Aunty Donna boys, their show Chaperones is about three deadbeats put in charge of a child star. Which, if we’re honest, sounds like a cracker concept ripe for the dominating by their sordid sense of humour.
Also planned are Merchants of Misery, a show about celebrity agents and gossip magazines, and All Thumbs, about three social outcasts looking for love, created by and starring Damon Herriman of Justified.
